Leslie Stelljes Nanson, PsyD

Co-Founder and Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Hi, I’m Dr. Leslie Stelljes Nanson – licensed clinical psychologist and co-founder of Aspen Grove Wellness.

I’ve been working in the mental health field since 2003, and since then, I’ve had the incredible privilege of supporting individuals from all walks of life. My early work in substance use treatment shaped my deep respect for human resilience and laid the foundation for a career devoted to helping people navigate life’s most difficult moments.

I completed my doctoral training at George Washington University in Washington, DC, after relocating to Virginia in 2009. Since then, I’ve worked across a wide range of clinical settings—from integrated healthcare and inpatient hospitals to community mental health and private practice. These experiences have given me a broad and nuanced perspective on emotional wellness, and I carry those insights into every session.

In my practice today, I work primarily with adults navigating acute stress, complex medical issues, grief and bereavement, identity development, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about your next steps, I strive to create a space that’s grounded in authenticity, curiosity, and care.

My clinical style is relational, collaborative, and evidence-based. I draw from psychodynamic, humanistic, and attachment-based therapies while tailoring each approach to the person in front of me. I believe in the importance of understanding your story—and in building a therapeutic relationship that helps you explore, grow, and heal on your own terms.

Outside the office, you’ll usually find me outside with my family, reading an autobiography, or planning my next adventure. I have a deep love for the natural world and a soft spot for stories, creating wildlife habitat, and spending time with friends.

If you’re looking for a grounded, compassionate therapist to walk alongside you, I’d be honored to connect.
